Since 2022 the duo Margareta Klose and Peter Várnai has been creating animations of parallel realities where multispecies morph between surreal livings, echoing love poems. Thinly composed planes of existence with only a few repeating transformations present are freaking the binary boundaries between humans, microbes, genders, animals, machines, enhancing the dichotomies that constitute them – in a lifelong transformation process full of surprising kinships and caring with each other.

Barely worlds yet, the oral poem animations of Margareta Klose and Peter Várnai are thinly composed planes of existence, which are repeating perplexing motions and transformations taking place in remote, phantasmatic realities. “Machaona 79” is a series of portals: the border where the walls of the exhibition space blend into digital reality is mutated, alien nature with petals and gills extrude around the windows into the parallel loops. Flames, skyscrapers and trees popped into existence next to each other without the underlying logic present responsible for making them crumble and scorch from the heat. Butterfly multi-species swarm, their vivid lifecycle is full in the dense and muddy crossover of heat, water, star-light, flowers and black holes.
