Ihor Okuniev works across media including photography, video and sound. His practice is inspired by his interest in Ukrainian culture, ethnography, folklore and architecture.

The sound installation and a photo shows the scars that the war has left on the Ukrainian landscape and society. Burnt forests, destroyed tanks and light-flooded ruins are depicted through sound images. The different parts of the musical composition have different sounds and styles, but together they tell a unified story. "Land" deals hauntingly and atmospherically with the human experience of loss, resilience and the quest for a new beginning.

"Land" is a sound work commissioned by the "Haus der Kunst" (Munich) for the Terassenhalle.
